Giant cell reparative granuloma in the mandible.

چکیده
Giant cell reparative granulomas (GCRG) are non-neoplastic rapidly expanding and locally destructive lesions typical of facial skeleton bones. Jaffé first described these lesions in 1953, designating benign lesions of the jaw that were histologically different from true giant cell tumors of long bones. Mandibular GCRG area rare lesions, comprising less than 7% of all benign bone lesions of the jaw.

Background and Objectives: Central giant cell granuloma formerly called "giant cell reparative granuloma," is a non-neoplastic lesion. Some lesions demonstrate aggressive behaviors similar to that of a neoplasm . The mandibular / maxillary ratio has been reported as being from 2:1 to 3:1. Lesions are more common in the anterior portions of the jaws Results: An 11-year old girl was referred ...

The patient is a seventheen years old girl, with severe pain and swelling in right maxillary sinus region and facial deformity from two weeks prior to referring. CT scan demonstrated a large tumoral mass in right maxillary sinus extended to petereigomaxillary fossa, orbital floor, lacrimal system and nasoethmoid region. Hard palate had been destroyed and bulged in to the oral cavity. Tumor was ...

Giant cell granuloma of the respiratory tract or Central Giant Cell Granuloma (CGCG) is considered an intraosseous, nonneoplasm tumor, responsible for less than 7% of all the mandible expansive lesions, its most common site of involvement. It affects more often the young people 75% of the cases happen to patients below 30 years of age. There is a greater predilection for females. This paper des...
متن کاملMultiple Central Giant Cell Granuloma of the Mandible: A Case Report
Introduction: Central giant cell granuloma is a benign lesion but sometimes has aggressive proliferation composed of multinucleated giant cells in a background of spindle and ovoid mesenchymal cells. Multifocal central giant cell granuloma of jaws is very rare and usually associated with hyperparathyroidism and some syndromes. We described an un-usual case of a 22-year-old man with idi-opathic ...

Discussion Giant cell reparative granuloma is an uncommon lesion that is a reactive process and not a neoplasm. At histologic analysis, giant cell reparative granulomas demonstrate plump, bland fibroblasts and multinucleated giant cells surrounding foci of hemorrhage; osteoid production along hemorrhagic foci is commonly seen. The histologic appearance of GCRG is similar to that of brown tumor ...
متن کاملAdvanced giant cell reparative granuloma of the mandible: radiological features and surgical treatment.
Giant cell reparative granuloma accounts for 1%-7% of all benign lesions of the jaw. Giant cell reparative granuloma often arises in the mandible and in the maxilla and affects children and young adults. It is usually a slow-growing lesion, fast-growing lesions having rarely been reported. The latter, despite the innocent histological appearance, has an aggressive behaviour mimicking a malignan...
